Fault recorder is mainly used for automatic identification of power system faults and recording transient waveform at fault time to help analyze fault causes.

Fault recorder is generally used in substation, medium and high voltage power system, because the importance of high voltage power system is very high, the speed of fault analysis and processing is very high. When the generator transformer unit, line and transformer have several large disturbances continuously, the device can record the whole process of each large disturbance completely, the recorded data is faithful and reliable, and can truly reflect the harmonic and aperiodic components.

The fault recorder can be configured with two generators, supporting large multi branch generators. Each generator can be configured with one, two or three neutral point branch groups, and there is no limit on the number of neutral point branches.

The transformer supports three winding transformer, two winding transformer and autotransformer. The high pressure side supports two branches, the medium pressure side supports two branches, and the low pressure side supports three branches. The device can be equipped with 6 transformers.

The fault recording device of generator transformer unit is usually equipped with 96 analog signals and 192 switching signals. The standby transformer or booster station (according to the scale of two circuits) is equipped with 64 channels of switching signal and 128 channels of analog signal. The number of switching and analog signals shall be configured according to the needs of the project.

The generator transformer fault recorder is generally installed in the electronic equipment room of the main plant, and the booster station power system fault recorder panel is installed in the relay room of the booster station.
